Scottish Werewolves: freaky Vampires and a Slayer with a bad addiction and an insane legacy. Add a big dose of sarcasm, sizzling chemistry; a lot of silver, and a ton of blood and . . . Welcome to The Blood Series! Cranberry Blood (Book 1 in The Blood Series) by Elizabeth Morgan Blurb: Killing Vampires? Easy. Tracking someone? Simple. Helping, and protecting a Vampire slayer . . . . Bloody hard work! Thirteen years ago, Brendan Daniels made a deal with a psychic. In exchange for information on the whereabouts of a Rogue Werewolf, he promised to help and protect Sofia's granddaughter. Unfortunately, he had no idea what he was letting himself, or his Pack, in for. Nothing about Heather is simple, from her weird dietary needs to her life’s mission. The girl can handle herself, but the promise to protect her soon becomes a need, and one that he can't fully understand. Vampire Slayer. Born Infected. Blood addict . . . but not by choice. Heather Ryan is the current Slayer in a long family line. Like all before her, she has spent her life searching for her ancestor, Marko Pavel, the Vampire her family has sworn to kill. If that isn't complicated enough, Heather is also a born "Infected" and to keep her from becoming insane or giving in to her darker side, she is on a very strict diet. Now that her Grandmother Sofia has passed, it is up to Heather to take the family legacy into her own hands; Or at least, it would have been, if her Grandmother hadn't sent a Werewolf to help her. What is the irritating Brendan supposed to help her with? Sofia never told either of them. Luckily, it doesn't take long for Heather and Brendan to find out that the Vampires have big plans, and that the Vamps have waited a long time for them both. "What are you?" I tensed. "That's a bit of a strange question—" "You smell different from other humans. Then there is the small fact that I can smell animal blood diluted in your cranberry juice." He sighed. "Sofia told me you were different, but didn’t go into detail." "If I don't smell like an average human, then I am sure you already know what I am." "I have an idea, but I want you to tell me." Irritation swam down my spine. "Why should I?" "In order for me to help you, I need to know everything about you. Like you said earlier, I don't know an awful lot." I laughed sharply at the obvious understatement. "Look, kid, we got off to a bad start. The situation is shit, I know. But we can either try to get along, or we’ll end up killing each other; either way, I am not leaving any time soon. "I made a deal with your grandmother to help you, in exchange for information on a person I was looking for. She helped me find that person. She kept to her end of the deal. So, I am here now, to keep my end of the deal." He exhaled a curse. "Perhaps it would have been better if Sofia had asked someone with more . . . understanding take on things to—" "No." I turned to face him. "If she saw you, then . . . . Well, she sent you. I trust my Gran. So if it's you she saw, then it's you who needs to be here." "You're taking everything rather well. Considering how crazy it all sounds." It did sound crazy, but I lived a crazy life. I lived in a crazy world. I nodded and walked over to the breakfast bar, pulled out a stool, then sat down. I kept my focus on the black marble surface in front of me. "There are three stages to becoming a Vampire. Stage one: A Vampire has to bite a human—then the Vampyrric virus spreads through the bloodstream, causing the cells to mutate, which causes the human body to evolve." I could feel his stare on my forehead. "Stage two: The person then has to drink a Vampire's blood. Drinking a Vampire's blood after being infected is like taking an overdose. The venom inside the Vampire's blood kills the human." I didn't hear a thing. Apparently, Shifters did not get grossed out easily. "Stage three: The corpse has to be stored in a cool, dark space to allow the Vampyrric virus to finish its mutation. If the body is kept in the heat, the venom evaporates and the heat causes the body to start decomposing. Once the mutation is complete, a Vampire is born." I looked up at him. "I, on the other hand, did not go through any of that. I was born as an Infected." New to The Blood Series? She-Wolf (The Blood Series Prequel) Blurb: Dealing with the Rogue werewolves terrorizing his Pack? Simple. Trying to convince his mate he does want to be with her? Bloody impossible. Owen MacLaren is the Alpha's son and the Pack's second, and he has never been one to let anything get to him. So when a bunch of Rogues begin purposely dumping mutilated bodies around the Pack Keep, he is more than ready to deal with the Werewolves responsible. But one trip to a local strip joint for a colleague's stag night changes things, and Owen soon discovers he isn't immune to everything . . . . After five years away, Clare Walker finds herself back home in Scotland, working in a strip club. The tips are decent, and she gets to dance, but it isn't a place she thought she would ever be, let alone Owen, her Pack second and the Werewolf who broke her heart. Although Owen is determined to prove he wants to be with Clare, things can't go smoothly between them, not when they have past issues to sort out and a bunch of unusual 'Rogues' to deal with. I had told her I wanted her. She knew what that meant between our kind. I had given her the opportunity to say no, but she had kissed me, she had accepted that I wanted her. So why was she still fighting this? Refusing to believe what she could sense, what she was feeling? I couldn't do anything until she figured out what the hell she wanted to do.
"I stick by everything I said last night. I want to go through the mating process with you, but you're obviously confused." I released her shoulders. "You need to figure out how you feel about this." "Isn't it obvious how I feel about this?" "Fuck no. You're coming out with all this stuff, all these scared excuses—" Anger pulsed through her flat energy, and fire sparked in her eyes. Looks like I hit the right nerve. "I'm not scared of you, MacLaren, and they're not excuses." "Yes, they are, Clare, and no, you're not scared of me, you're scared about how you feel when you're with me." "Go to hell." She turned around. I grabbed her shoulders and pinned her back to my chest. Pressing my lips to her ear, I continued. "What I have yet to hear you say is that you don't want to be with me, and quite frankly, flower, that is the only thing that matters." "Would you leave me alone if I told you I didn't want to be with you?" Probably not. "If you told me you didn't want to be with me, I wouldn't believe you." "Why?" I placed my right hand on her chest; I felt the kick in her heartbeat. I heard her quick intake of breath, and smiled. She was so warm, so soft. So mine. "Because I can sense everything you feel through your energy. Because I can feel your Wolf. I know what she wants, and so do you." She sank back against me. Her hands grabbed my thighs. "And what exactly does my energy tell you, Owen? What does she want?" "Your energy is responsive around me. Aware, aroused, comfortable." I pressed a kiss into her nape, then smiled as a blushed warmed her cheeks. "And she wants her mate," I whispered. "Hewants her, too, Clare." I slid my right hand around her waist, and turned her to face me. "Surely you can sense that, Clare?" It took her a moment to reply, but eventually she agreed. "I can." "So why are you fighting it?" "Because I'm trying to figure out what you want, Owen." "You." I leaned in and brushed my lips across hers. "I just want you." She sighed, but to my surprise, her lips caught mine and she kissed me softly. I tightened my right arm around her waist, and pulled her closer, cradling her head with my left hand, loving the way the gentle sparks of her energy played with mine. After a minute, she pressed her hands against my chest, then feebly pushed me away. "Why?" "Why?" I mumbled, running my tongue along the seal of her lips, dying to taste her. "Aye," she said raggedly. "Why do you want me?" She met my gaze. "I get why he wants her, but do you want me?" "Yes." I caught her mouth with mine once more. She pushed me away again. "Then I want to know why." She took a step back, then quickly popped open the buttons of her black shirt. My gaze automatically fell to the purple, satin bra that cradled her breasts. My cock hardened. "Do you want me because you've seen how good I look with my clothes off?" Looked good was putting it mildly, and god help me, I had to touch her. I stepped forward, and rested my hands on her hips. She shivered as I caressed the planes of her stomach, and worked my way up her waist. She was so damn soft. "Or is it because I'm someone you haven't fucked?" she asked raggedly. I met her gaze, my brow tightened. "No, that's not—" "But that's what you want, isn't it?" she said, grabbing my T-shirt in her right hand, and pulling me along. "You've seen me parade around in my underwear. Our Wolves sensed each other. Last night, you kept telling me how I would eventually sleep with you." "Last night, my brain was functioning less smoothly than usual." "But, if that's what you want, why not do it now?" She gasped, as her back hit the nearest tree trunk. Her hands disappeared under my T-shirt. "Scratch the itch." She dragged her nails roughly over my skin. I clutched at the tree trunk, behind her shoulders. My gaze never left hers. ~ * ~ Where to find Elizabeth online: Website: www.e-morgan.com Blog: www.xxxxmyworldxxxx.blogspot.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/elizabeth.morgan.944 Twitter: @EMorgan2010 Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/391404.Elizabeth_Morgan Amazon Author Page: http://www.amazon.com/Elizabeth-Morgan/e/B006WR1WLQ The Blood Series Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/TheBloodSeries
