When she entered the house, the clanging of pots in the kitchen greeted her. Chloe smiled. Ms. Cooper was making breakfast. Hopefully, it was the woman’s yummy cinnamon muffins. Chloe could easily put down three of those and not think twice about the calorie intake. As she stepped into the kitchen, she called, “Ms. Cooper.”
She froze mid-step while the “Sexiest Man Alive,” a white dishtowel in hand, set down a pan and gazed at her. A large lump formed in her throat, and she tried to swallow. She couldn’t believe she was standing there, staring at Sean Cooper, in the flesh!
A look of shock on his face, he gazed at her. “Chloe Flower is that you?”
She nodded and that fluttery stomach feeling from earlier reached farther through her body. As her vision went dark, she held the edge of the wall. The last thing she registered was a hard, and great smelling, man grab her.
*
Chloe groaned as she opened her eyes. “Oh my God.” It hadn’t been a dream. She was lying on the couch in Ms. Cooper’s living room, and next to her was Sean Cooper. Concern etched his face.
“Are you okay?”
She nodded.
“You scared me.” He reached for something on the end table then came back holding a bottle of water. “Drink this.”
As she sat, she accepted the bottle and, after twisting off the lid, took a long drink. “I don’t know what came over me. I’ve never passed out like that before. Usually my allergies are acting up if I even get light-headed. I’m embarrassed.” And rambling.
He grinned. The most movie-star-worthy smile she’d seen to date. “Maybe I should be flattered.”
“Am I the first girl to faint when seeing you?”
“I wish I could say yes, but it kinda comes with the territory,” he said, his tone slightly irritated.
Oh, she could imagine. The laid back guy she’d known growing up was now the most sought out man in Hollywood.
