Today I have guest author Dana Michelle Burnett. Sit back and enjoy this interview as you get to know her a little bit better.

1. Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a paranormal romance writer living in beautiful southern Indiana.  I am also the proud dance mom to a beautiful daughter.

2. What genre do you write?  I currently write in the paranormal romance genre, but I have also published works in the contemporary romance and literary genres.
Picture
3. Please tell us about your latest release (insert title) and how you came up with the idea?  My latest release is Spiritus.  It is a paranormal romance between a girl and a ghost that claims to love her.

4. Is it part of a series?  Yes, it is book#1 of a three book series.

5. A must have snack while you write.  I am a total sucker for Mike & Ikes.

6. A fact that someone might not know about you.  I am a widow and deathly afraid of clowns.

7. If you had to choose a favorite book that you’ve written, which would it be?  It would definitely be Spiritus.

8. Advice to writers who have yet to be published.  I recommend anyone wanting to become a writer should read a lot to know your genre better and write a lot to find your own voice.  I also recommend Stephen King’s On Writing.

9. Is there a genre you haven’t written yet that you want to?  I’ve always thought that I would like to try children’s books since books were such an important part of my childhood.

10. Any quirky habits?  I gave up smoking almost two years ago and because of that, I have become a pencil chewer.  I keep an unsharpened pencil near me at home and chew on it while I’m writing.

11. Have you written a character that most resembles you?  Becca is very much like me.  She tends to shut herself off from things and is often on the outside looking in.

12. What type of hero do you enjoy writing about?  I love to write about a flawed hero, someone that is far from perfect, but is trying his best.

13. What are you currently reading?  I am currently reading Shattered by Sophia Sharp.

14. What are you currently working on?  I am currently doing the final edits on book#2 of the Spiritus series and outlining the final book.

15. Anything that you’d like to share.  I would just like to say thanks and the readers can keep in touch with me through:

Welcome Malia Mallory

Today I have Malia Mallory on the blog and she is telling us how she got started with erotic romance.  Sit back and enjoy.

To be honest, I've been writing erotica for years, just not publishing it. I've always liked to write and at certain times penned a story for someone special in my life. In those instances, it was pretty much just shared between the two of us. In particular, if someone was travelling or we were doing a long distance thing for some reason, it was a way to be sexual when not physically together.

I've played around with doing more with my writing but never that seriously. I'd look at submission guidelines a couple times a year and continued to jot down my ideas.

Finally last year, I was inspired. I entered an erotic writing contest. I became a finalist and was pleasantly surprised. Though I ultimately didn't win, it did show me I could put out a product that was appealing and readable. I became more serious about investigating publishing.

Then I was struck by the indie writing bug. I didn't have to rely on a publishing company. I didn't have to send something in and wait months for an answer. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against traditional publishing. It's more when I make up my mind to do something, I tend to be in a hurry. Now the deadlines that I set are my own. I'm writing with a purpose. It does feel different though. It is definitely work. I'll keep you posted on my progress!

If you've read me until the end, thank you! If not, well go HERE and you will find links to all the weeks. This story is only about 3,000 words.

I hope you enjoy the ending. And remember, this story is rated PG since I can't control who stumbles upon my blog.

Jenny made her way to where Nick sat. He glanced up, smiling but said nothing. She took a seat next to him on the rock, just as she always did when they were younger.

A good ten minutes went by before she finally had the courage to speak. “Thank you so much for all the gifts this week.”

“I was worried you were just trashing them.”

Jenny laughed. “No, the flowers are spread all around the place and I think I gained ten pounds on all the candy.”

Silence stood between them again. A calmness swept through Jenny. Reaching out, she took his hand and gazed into his eyes.

“This is crazy and I shouldn’t even be here with you. But your it for me Nick. I should tape my mouth shut right now so I can’t say anymore, but for some reason I forgive you. And in a really odd way, I understand. And now I’m rambling.”

Nick placed a finger over her lips. “Don’t ever tape those pretty things closed.” Leaning forward, he pressed his to hers and the fireworks shot off.

His tongue pushed its way through and her’s joined his. Wrapping her free hand around his neck, she pulled herself closer and for once let her mind not think and let her body just feel. And wow did it feel good. Desire stirred through every nerve of her body. She couldn’t get close enough to him. If she could, she would literally connect their bodies together right here just to feel the spark she was more intensified.

His lips left hers and just as she was about to protest, he kissed his way down her jaw line to that spot just behind her ear. “Oh my.” She sighed.

Jenny finally let her hands begin to explore his chest and could not believe the amount of muscle he had. Her fingers itched to see how he would feel without clothes on. It was then it hit her. What was she doing?

“Stop.” She pushed him away and stood.

“I’m sorry. That was forward.”

“It was yes, but I liked it.”

“We aren’t teenagers anymore, so I guess making out on this rock is a little silly.”

“My ass sure hurts, that is for sure.” She giggled. “But I barely know you anymore. We need to slow things down.”

Nick stood and made his way toward her. “Does that mean you’ll give me another chance?”

Was she? Gazing up at him, seeing the man she had longed for these past few years. A man who had loved her so much, then just left her, but was now back, could she give him another chance. Jenny kicked her toes in the sand and looked down a moment. Eight years ago Nick had made the decision to leave her, to give her more of a life then to be just another girl who married her high school sweet heart right out of high school. She had done so much in those past eight years. One thing she knew, she had never stopped loving him. But was it enough?

Her eyes made their way back to his and as she studied his expression all she saw was love. And that love was for her. And at the moment she held all the cards and it was her play as to where they went from right here.

Jenny took a deep breath then reached out taking his hand. “I love you Nick. But I am not giving you another chance.”

He gasped and she could see the confusion.

She pulled him closer. “I’m spending the rest of my life with you. Your not leaving me again.”

He grinned.

“Now get over here and kiss me again. I want to be taken away in away that only your love can do.”

Nick didn’t hesitate, he jerked her to him and devoured her. As far as when the sun finally finished setting, she wasn’t sure. By the time she and Nick finished kissing, they were hand in hand walking toward her home in the dark. The sky was clear and filled with stars to light their way.

The End

I'm so excited that the second book in my Hot Bods series is now available. To this date, this is one of my favorite books I've written. Where my others have had the two really fighting how they felt, More Than Useful is full of fun, flirty, and sexy scenes. I smiled a lot while writing this and if you pick it up, I hope you do to.

Can she settle for just a little fun?

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning Adam stops by Amy's bakery for one of her delicious muffins…and a little flirting. When he finally asks her out, Amy is thrilled.

Adam informs her from the beginning that he isn't looking for anything serious. Just a little fun. Amy agrees, even though she isn't entirely sure that's what she wants.

She does her best to play it cool, but Adam is sending so many mixed signals he's confusing her, which she finds incredibly frustrating.

Adam is terrified by the feelings he's developing for Amy. It would be so much easier if he just backed away from her. Then there's his sister, who is insisting that Amy is not the right girl for him.

Will Adam be able to figure out what his heart desires before it's too late and he loses his chance at true happiness?

Content Warning: explicit sex

Character Interview - Mindy Mayes from Someone Like You

2/20/2012

Welcome Mindy Mayes from Someone Like You. I'm really happy to have you hear and that your creator let you come by for a bit.
Picture
MM: First I want to thank you for having me, Lacey. I’m not used to doing interviews, so excuse me if I’m nervous.

LW: You’re doing fine. I see you’re a college student. Where and what’s your major?

MM: Yes! I am. I’m attending Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. I’m near the end of my time there, thankfully. As much as I like being in college, I’m not looking forward to the debt. Sigh. But being an art student comes with a price. I’m studying art history. I’d love to teach at the college level, but I don’t know if a teaching assistant position is in my future.

LW: What is the draw in dating Arran? He seems so polar opposite to you.

MM: Arran is who he is and no one will make him change. It’s funny. I’d drooled over him from across the art history auditorium for so long. I didn’t think he knew I was there. Then poof! He asks me out. Strange. But yes, he’s my opposite. Very outgoing and talkative. I’d rather read a book, but whatever works.

LW: What do you see yourself doing in ten years time?

MM: I’d love to be teaching art history to a classroom full of students with rapt attention to Greek Art. I’d like to. If you asked my mother, she’d say she sees me married and tugging two squawking children with me everywhere.  This will sound mean, but I am not a kid person, so I highly doubt I’ll have kids. Arran is enough immaturity for me. Crazy impulsive man.

LW: You mention Arran being impulsive and immature. Do you think he’ll ever grow up?

MM: Sigh. I don’t know about him sometimes. He’s got so many pressures on him to be what he’s not. I can’t imagine not being accepted by my family. Is he impulsive? Yes. If he gets it in his head he needs to take a trip to the Rock Hall because he’s just got to see the Springsteen exhibit, he’ll drop everything to go. Is he immature? Well, I don’t know too many guys under the age of 22 that are super mature. He’s carefree, young and likes to do what he wants to do, but he’s got limits. I still love him.

LW: Okay, no for some fun questions. Rapid fire!

MM: (Giggle). Shoot.

LW: Sexiest man alive?

MM: Sean Connery

LW: Song that makes you want to dance?

MM: I Like It by Enrique Iglesias.

LW: Favorite book you’ve ever read.

MM: Oh man. I’ve read so many it’s hard to choose. Um. Hmm. Wild Card by Lora Leigh.

LW: Dream Job and the place you’d be least likely to work.

MM: Dream Job would be a full professorship at Kent teaching Art.  Least likely would be Ronan’s Grille. The Guy is a sleaze.  But I have no idea what the future holds, so maybe saying I wouldn’t work there is a jinx.

LW: Well, that’s all the questions I have right now. Thanks for being here. I said you’d do fine. Grin. If you’d like to read more about Mindy and Arran, grab a copy of Someone Like You. You can get it here:  http://www.total-e-bound.com/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=&P_ID=1513

Thanks Mindy! Don’t be afraid to come back. Bring Arran for eye candy, too.
