![]() I (Skylar) figured I would start the week off on this blog take over. After all, I was the very first character Lacey came up with. I was the vision in her head. So first, I want to share the scene that played through her head, so I can show you how this whole series was born. **** Skylar’s eyes met his across the bar. Shit, she thought. Those were the last pair of eyes she wanted to see. She had hoped to never see him again. The last time she’d seen Drew was the amazing weekend they had spent together. He’d wined and dined her for two nights straight. Her lips knew every part of his body, her tongue knew every taste. He was an amazing lover and had magic fingers that could send her over the edge in just a few strokes. When she awoke on the last morning they were to share together, she had expected to have a wild morning quickie, instead she found an empty hotel room. That was a month ago, and she hadn’t seen or heard a word from him since then, until now. She blinked her eyes and pushed the memory away. A blonde woman was attached to his arm, and she looked like the type who could have whomever she chose, unlike Skylar. The woman was so busy gabbing with people around her that she hadn’t realized Drew’s focus was no longer on her. Draining her drink and setting the glass on the bar, Skylar knew it would be best to look away. As she willed herself to get out of there, she saw Drew had excused himself from the blonde and was headed her way. Hell no! Taking a quick glimpse around the room she looked for the bathroom as an escape. She caught sight of a hallway to her left and walked toward it. “Skylar!” she heard him call. She picked up her pace and ducked into the darkened hallway, expecting to see bathrooms, but instead all she saw was an exit door. “Shit.” She pushed the door open and found herself in an alley behind the building. This was the last place she wanted to be. The sound of the door opening again echoed, and she knew she was no longer alone. “Skylar, why did you take off?” Drew’s voice was just as she remembered, deep with a slight southern drawl. **** That scene is what inspired Mrs. Wolfe. It played through her head over and over and finally she just had to get it out. And well, I was born. And I have to say, looking back, if you continue from where the above left off, it gets pretty heated between Drew and I in more then one way. I wasn't any easy character, I'm sure. I have a mouth on me. I cuss and complain a lot. And I often times got mad about things and really overreacted. However, I did not over react to Drew leaving me in a hotel room all alone. But, enough about that. Supposedly your suppose to leave the past in the past and Lacey helped Drew and I get it all figured out in our story. But seeing as though I do what I want, and it always caused Lacey to stress, I've decided to giveaway a copy of Fool Me Once...without her permission. Let's hope she doesn't hop on and find out! So, if you want to read my story, simply leave a comment. And on Saturday, I'll be back to announce the winner. :) Skylar

![]() Have you been curious about my newest Hot Bods book, but just not sure yet? Well today I am going to share with you an excerpt to give you a little insight into Adam from More Than Useful. I hope you enjoy it.Buy Links: Amazon / Nook / BeachwalkPress AllRomance / Bookstrand ***** Parking his patrol car in front of Sweet Muffins bakery, Adam took a deep breath. It was Wednesday, not his usual day to be here. Normally today he would be at some fast food place eating a stale biscuit and wishing he was here. There was something about Amy; she stirred unusual desires in him. He lusted over her, sure, but something about that sweet face of hers kept bringing him back. A relationship was the last thing he wanted. He was too busy working his way up in his job. He didn’t want to be a patrol officer forever. He liked it all right; he worked a lot of hours but not as many as those above him. The amount of time his co-workers spent on the job was one reason he hadn’t pushed for a promotion. He didn’t think he was ready to settle down, but he was tired of the one-night stands. Being an officer, women fell at his feet. He yearned for something more, maybe a girlfriend. Even that thought scared him. Raking his hands through his hair, he wondered again what in the hell was he doing here. Amy was not the “play with” kind of girl. But he found himself drawn to her and was ready to ask her out. Nervousness swept through him as he stepped out of the car. Slowly, he made his way to the bakery door. He took a deep breath and grabbed the handle, hearing the bell jingle as he entered. His eyes darted around the small place and took in everyone. Rooms always quieted when he walked in with his uniform on. As he headed toward the counter to order, she stood there, her gaze focused on him. Today she wore a tight fitting bright yellow shirt. Her hazel colored eyes really stood out. Brushing her bangs to the side, she flashed him a flirty grin and he hoped it was only for him. He cleared his throat and stepped up to the counter. “Hi.” “Well, hi.” She beamed. “Same as usual?” “Not today.” “Ooo, a change. I like that.” Laughing, he said, “I figured I might want to try something else.” “What can I get you then?” She was beautiful. Once again, seeing her sweet and innocent face, he had to remind himself that getting involved with her was dangerous. She was likely to steal his heart and make him feel things. Yet, here he stood, ready to take this up a level. “A date?” “A date muffin?” She looked confused, and he liked that he had caught her off guard. “No, a date with you.” He watched as her grin seemed to get even bigger. That was a good thing, he hoped. It seemed he had a chance of not getting turned down. “I’d like that.” She spoke in a quieter voice. “I’m off duty Friday evening, does that work for you?” She nodded. Happiness leapt through his body. She said yes and he didn’t know why he was so giddy. He couldn’t recall ever feeling this excited about a date before. “Is there anything else I can get you?” she asked. His gaze dropped to her lips a moment, and he imagined how soft they would feel against his. Wondered if they tasted as good as he thought they would. “Uh, let me try a blueberry walnut muffin.” “Those are my special today.” She turned to head to the container where all the bakery items were kept. She returned with a brown paper bag, rolled up tightly, and a cup of coffee. She handed it to him as he gave her the money. “I’ll be looking forward to Friday.” “Me too.” He started to turn to leave when she called to him. “Um, should we exchange numbers or something? That way I can let you know where I live. Or do you want to meet somewhere?” His face flushed, and embarrassment was all he felt. How could he have forgotten something as simple as a number? Setting his order down on the counter, he pulled out his cellphone, trying to appear collected. “What’s you number?” She told him and he programmed it in. “I think you’ve got everything now.” She giggled. While grabbing his order he said, “I think so. I can already tell you’re going to be useful.” He gave her a slight nod and rushed back toward his patrol car to try and gather himself. Sitting down, he let out a long breath. He felt a little stupid and hoped he hadn’t made a fool of himself. Opening the bag, he reached in to take out his muffin. He took a bite without looking and he recognized the flavor. Pulling it away, he saw he was eating his usual banana nut. A quick glance in the bag and he saw another muffin, the blueberry walnut, and a small note. Just in case you didn’t like the blueberry. Amy, x o A whole new emotion flooded through his body, and he couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was. One thing he did know—it was nice, but it scared the hell out of him. Today I am spotlighting Lila Munro's newest book, Assumed Identity. ![]() Innocent childhood games of dress-up and pretend… Julie Stevens is as straight as they come. Or so she tries to convince herself. But it isn’t easy believing that little white lie when she has the two most sexually eccentric best friends on the planet. One is a bi-sexual Domme who believes if it looks fun, try it. The other is a gay man in the role of slave to his very sexy Master whom Julie often wishes wasn’t gay. Dante’s commanding presence makes her want to do things that set her on fire with need and embarrassment. Given her boring vanilla life, how exactly does she fit into their world? Would they like to have a shinier third wheel? Are a completely different animal for grownups… After one wild evening and a bit too much liquid encouragement, Julie discovers a side of herself she’s always tried to ignore. The realization she’s a sub not only scares her, it excites her and she yearns for more. But the process of finding the right man to teach her becomes a real issue, until Mason comes along. He’s everything Julie imagines a Dom should be. Armed with her masque and Renaissance costume, Julie is thrown for a loop when the handsome Master draws more willingness out of her than she ever thought possible. 2. What genre do you write? Erotic romance with a happily ever after. My stories tend to have dominant/submissive overtones. ![]()
Plenty To Come is the first in a series about a fictional town in Central Florida. I come from a small town in Illinois and loved growing up there. It seemed natural to create a town based on what I remember from my childhood. The only difference being that my hometown was not in to ménages! 4. Is it part of a series? Right now I have at least three books planned in the series, but I have introduced a few characters that I find intriguing. They could very well get their own books. 5.A must have snack while you write. I love sweet iced tea and drink way too much. 6. A fact that someone might not know about you. I am a Disney addict. We love visiting Disney as a family. I have been more times than I can count. 7. Advice to writers who have yet to be published. Find your voice as a writer. Don’t try and imitate anyone else’s. Yes, every story has already been written, so what you bring to the table is how you tell that story. 8. Is there a genre you haven’t written yet that you want to? I am planning a “paranormal romance” book, if I can only find the time to write it. 9. Any quirky habits? My husband would probably tell you that I have lots of quirky habits. I will say that I am a creature of organization. Being a working mother and needing to find time to write, I depend on schedules and systems to get everything done. So I guess my quirky habit would be that I follow my schedules pretty religiously. 10. Have you written a character that most resembles you? Not so far. But every character that I write has a little piece of me. For example, Cassie in Plenty to Come loves chocolates and horror movies. She gets that from me. 11. What type of hero do you enjoy writing about? Men who are alpha but not afraid to show how they feel. He should treat his woman with respect and of course, be really hot in bed! 12. What are you currently reading? I’m in between books right now but a few of my favorite authors are Tymber Dalton and Laurann Dohner. 13. What are you currently working on? Actually, I just finished the first book in a new series about an Erotic Romance Book Club – the Martinis and Chocolate Book Club – that has a BDSM flair. It will be out in May at Siren. 14. Anything that you’d like to share. I feel really grateful to have been given the opportunity to publish my stories! I would love to hear from my readers. They can contact me at LaraValentineauthor@gmail.com or check out my blog at http://eroticromancewriting.wordpress.com/ First up, I have some great news...I sold my first BDSM - Bound By Pleasure, to Beachwalk Press! Yay!!!
Now, onto this blog post. My husband works a long commute and we've decided to move. A little about me, before taking my writing serious, I was a clean freak. Now I think its just because I had nothing better to do. Once my writing took off, I learned to let it go. And I do mean let it go. I no longer vacuumed everyday...maybe once a week. Well I've had a month to get this house ready for the market. Of course sickness had to sweep through, kids on breaks, etc -- which left me with a week before today. Today the house is on the market. And I have cleaned my fanny off. And I still have some to do. Now I should add, I am/was the clean freak and my darling husband is a pack rat/ closet hoarder. So just imagine what this place has gone to in the last year. Yes...bad. But I did it. Its ready...fingers-crossed this goes smooth. Soon we start looking for a new and bigger home. And while I'm scared to death of moving, I'm also excited. We will be living near family which means my kids will get to see some of their relatives more and I will have someone to socialize with. There won't be much writing in my future. But thankfully I have several releases already lined up. So I can take a little break--at least from writing. I expect my inbox to be full of edits before long. Which means as I clean up after the husband and kids almost full-time, I will be doing edits. But you know what, I wouldn't give it up for anything. :) |
