I am working on a full-length contemporary romance that is currently titled, Bidding Wars. I have big plans for this story and am having a blast writing it. I've created one of those heros to swoon over. Every time I write a scene with him, my own heart rate picks up. I can only hope my readers feel the same way as well when this story is available. I wanted to share a rough blurb, to give you a little taste, as well as an unedited excerpt. Be sure to watch the word counter on my side bar as it makes it way to 50,000 words! Bidding Wars - Unofficial BlurbHe is a sheriff. She is a nurse. What could they possibly have in common? Molly Harper is recovering from a year of depression after learning she couldn’t have children and her husband decides to leave her for a woman who could. Molly finds a house she is in love with and must have. Only problem, someone else wants the house too. Luke Logan is looking to buy a home. He wants to take his ex-wife to court to become their son’s full-time parent. And he hopes that owning his own home helps with the case he’s been building. He has a problem though, he meets Molly Harper and instantly falls for the spunky woman who demands he withdraws his offer. Molly is certain the house is hers and tells him she will fight with everything in her to get it. Luke doesn’t know what he wants more, the house or the woman. Molly finds herself drawn to Luke as well, but isn’t willing to let someone else in. Cans she resist Luke’s charm? A heart pumping excerptLuke moved closer to her. Molly’s breath caught and her heart raced more. In her head she could hear the pounding. Thump, thump, thump. She did her best not to look at him, but her need to see his eyes was to strong. Molly gazed up and found he was staring at her with nothing but passion in his eyes.
He took a step closer to her again. She inhaled and could smell a fragrance that tingled her senses. Luke reached out and rubbed his hand along her cheek. She closed her eyes out of instinct. Just the feel of him touching her brought feelings back in her she hadn’t experience in a long time. The nerves in her body stood on end and it was almost like she was being tickled. She could feel him getting closer and his warm breath coming closer to her. Opening her eyes, she saw his focus was on her lips and his mouth was close. If she moved forward an inch, she could taste him. She could tell he was waiting on her to give him the ok. Her fingers ached the grip his shirt and pull him to her. The kiss would be passionate and would ignite that fire in her she was scared of. She hadn’t kissed another man since Steven. Could Luke be the first? Molly pushed up on her tip toes. She was going to do it. Reaching out, she was about to wrap her hand around his neck. Her gaze was locked on his and it was as though they were moving in slow motion. “Sheriff, you in there?” A male voice asked as he pounded on the door, sending it flying open. Molly jumped back and Luke glared at the person as though they were an intruder. “Sorry, Sherriff. I didn’t realize you had someone in there.” “It ok Rogers, what can I do for you?” Luke asked, moving away from Molly and going out in the hallway. She could hear him talking to the officer. She wiped her hands across her shirt and took a few deep breaths. That had been close. What had come over her? Her intentions when she came over here were to yell at him and tell him what a jerk he was for putting her through this. Not to get intimate in anyway with him. Luke returned and this time left the door open. She was sure he had probably broken some rule himself and didn’t want anyone saying anything. “Can I take you to lunch?” he asked. “No. I need to get back to work. I haven’t even eaten yet. I really should go.” “How about tomorrow?” She shook her head. “It’s not a good idea.” “Why?” “It just isn’t.” “Well Ms. Harper, if you can’t give me a better reason, then I will be at your workplace tomorrow to take you to lunch.” She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Her mind was betraying her not giving her some kind of excuse. “I’ll see you tomorrow at noon then.” Molly smirked and cocked her head to the side. “Not if I call out sick.” Luke chuckled. “Good thing I know where you live then.”

![]() How fun, a new meme to share with readers some of my work. I've chosen to give you twelve sentences from Finding Home, my contemporary romance. (PS...its on sale all weekend for 99cents!) These twelve sentences start after my heroine, Julie, has woken up from a nap. “A little.” Her stomach did feel better. She was hungry again but didn’t want a repeat performance. Maybe just stick with something small for now. “Oh, do you think you could possibly get my suitcase from my car when you have a free moment?” “I wish, but that isn’t happening.” Wow, was he rude or what? She’d thought he was somewhat of a gentleman but, boy, was she wrong. “I would if I could,” he said. “What’s stopping you?” Julie snapped. “Have you looked outside?” She shook her head. “Well, while you were napping, the clouds opened up. A blizzard has hit, and it’s still coming.” |
