Ella Jade and I have always loved The Property Brothers, and it's no secret that they were our inspiration behind our joint writing adventure. Even though our two brothers aren't twins and HGTV TV hosts, we really admired the bond the two brothers had and hoped we could show it in our book with our two brothers, Hudson and Liam. The last two days, I teased you with a Hudson and Kennedy teaser and a Liam and Chelsea. Today, get to know the boys away the women. Excerpt from Hudson, written by Ella JadeHudson finished his beer, just as Liam came through the back door and into the kitchen. He placed the Chinese takeout bags on the counter. Hudson wasn’t in the mood for company, but Liam insisted.
“Started without me?” Liam asked. “Just one.” Hudson tossed his brother a beer before taking the containers out of the bags and opening them. He grabbed two plates from the cabinet. “I had a trying afternoon.” Except for the outstanding sex, he didn’t have anything else to brag about. “What happened?” “It’s not worth talking about over dinner.” Hudson put some chicken fried rice on his plate. “Sorry about your crew.” “What about them?” Liam bit into an egg roll. “Last I checked they were still at Kennedy’s place making some good progress.” “What?” Hudson cracked open another beer. “She didn’t throw them out?” “No, did she throw you out?” Liam laughed. “What? Did she realize you weren’t worth ten grand? That was quick.” “She freaked when I told her I was sending your guys.” “She didn’t possibly think she was going to meet your deadline by herself, did she?” “Apparently.” “Hmm, a bit of a loose cannon, huh?” You have no idea. “How does she fit into your perfectly neat, little OCD life?” “She doesn’t.” He sipped his beer. “I think that’s why she’s so intriguing.” “Wow.” “What?” “Is the most eligible bachelor stepping down?” Liam dumped some Mongolian beef on his plate. “Now there’s a shock.” “You want the title?” “Hell, no.” Liam reached for the container of rice. “Mom is already bugging me for the next auction. After that public kiss between you and Kennedy she thinks you’re getting married.” “Hardly.” “But it’s serious?” “Maybe.” Hudson didn’t want to think about it. “What about you?” “What about me?” “Do you ever get tired of being single?” Hudson needed to address the fact that he was working with his brother’s ex-girlfriend, but Chelsea had been so undecided about moving back to Morgan that Hudson didn’t want to bring it up. “No.” He downed his beer. “You know I don’t want to settle down, like, ever.” “I know that was true before, I mean, after Chels, but–” “Whoa!” Liam put up his hand. “Now there’s a name we haven’t mentioned in a long time and I’d prefer to keep it that way.” “I was thinking–” “Don’t think about me.” His brother clearly didn’t want to talk about his ex.
